This is one of the ukes produced by the participants in a work for the dole scheme I supervise. The blackwood is the first I’ve been able to use from M3 I laid in last year. http://lumberjocks.com/Texcaster/blog/96802
I dress the timber at home, all the final thicknessing, cutting, bending, and fret work is done by hand, at work, for insurance reasons.
This is the second one of these classes I’ve conducted. The first was 3 days a week, fine at first but more than I wanted. The current one is 1 1/2 days and suits me much better.
This time we’re also making a guitar. Bunya Pine, PNG Roeswood, Qld. Walnut and Mahogany.
Walnut “feature” on the headstock. One of the boys went too far with a rasp. A same species repair would always look dodgy.

As I say to my wife as a leave for work …” If I need a guitar at work, it must be the right job.”
Ned, from the last class.
We also assemble and decorate kit ukes.
